Rapti Kinara Deck

As its name suggests, Rapti Kinara (meaning “bank of the Rapti”), is an elevated outdoor deck overlooking the River Rapti and surrounding forest. As the candlelit tables flicker and the gentle sounds of the river lap at the shoreline, diners enjoy a “sekuwa” barbeque dinner accompanied by lightly spiced grilled vegetables fresh from the lodge’s organic kitchen gardens. Occasional dinner companions include a lone rhino or herd of deer stopping at the river's edge for a drink.

Tharu Village

A rich showcase of local culinary traditions and native culture, the Tharu Village dining experience recreates the feeling of an intimate village meal. Framed by an open, bonfire-lit courtyard and thatched-roof veranda, this indoor/outdoor space is plastered with mud and traditional tribal décor on the walls. Touches like a bullock cart, a “kabootarghar” (pigeon house) and live Tharu dancers performing to a native drum beat add additional local flavour. Highlights of the Tharu Village meal include customary dishes like sticky rice, spicy duck and mustard greens, along with other regional delicacies.
